С одной стороны колесного кронштейна располагается несколько блокираторов по его краю, которые скомпонованы в виде лучей. Блокираторы вращаются одновременно с роликом. Блок уменьшения скорости содержит фиксирующую часть и скользящий элемент. Фиксирующая часть находится сбоку ролика и включает отверстие для скольжения. Скользящий элемент подвижно располагается в отверстии для скольжения и включает эластичную часть с блокировочной частью. При движении ролика вниз блокировочная часть скользящего элемента выступает с внешней стороны отверстия для скольжения, прерывая траекторию вращения блокираторов, чем достигается снижение скорости. A brake valve for an automatic brake system includes an actuator responsive to feedback pressure from a brake for regulating pressure in the brake proportional to an electrical signal applied to the actuator. The actuator exerts a force that is opposed by feedback pressure acting against a predetermined area of the actuator. Valves operated by the actuator provide for alternately communicating a supply of pressurized air to the brake cylinders or discharging air pressure from the cylinders. A low-flow vent valve provides for discharging small quantities of air from my valve. However, a pilot operated high-flow dump valve supersedes the low-flow vent valve for discharging larger quantities of air and permits my valve to be controlled by smaller actuating forces.

A method for preventing wheel pairs from slipping when braking a railway car is characterized by that optoelectronic sensors detect a change in the intensity of a luminous flux relatively to a reference value during the rotational movement of a wheel pair. Then, the luminous flux is converted into pulse signals with a repetition frequency directly proportional to the angular velocity of the wheel pair. Pulse signals are transmitted to an input of a control module of an electronic unit, located in a brake equipment unit, where deviations of the repetition frequency of pulse signals from the reference value are calculated. Based on the calculated deviation, time of air discharge from a brake cylinder and duration of a single exposure to a three-position relief valve are calculated. Then, by giving a control command from the electronic unit, the three-position relief valve is opened, thereby discharging air from the brake cylinder into the atmosphere, thereby preventing slipping of wheel pairs. A spring accumulator (56) is used in conjunction with a modulation valve (30) to provide an operating mechanism for an hydraulic anti-skid braking system. The modulation valve includes shut-off valve means (44) to close off communication between an hydraulic pressure source (40) e.g. a master cylinder operated by the driver's foot, and a brake operating mechanism e.g. a wheel cylinder, and a modulation chamber (32) having a modulation plunger (35) which can move to vary the available chamber (32) volume and hence vary the hydraulic pressure in the chamber when the shut-off valve (44) is closed. The modulation plunger is connected to the spring accumulator (56) by a right-angle lever arrangement (63-61-64). The spring accumulator includes a movable plate (56) which is indexed by a pilot plunger (53) under the control of hydraulic pressure associated with the modulation valve (30). Work done by the outward displacement of the modulation plunger (35) can be stored as potential energy in the spring (59) of the accumulator and re-used to assist the return of the modulation plunger (35) to its resting state. The return movement of the modulation plunger is controlled by a small vacuum operated piston and cylinder (70) which can be of relatively low power as the spring accumulator (56) provides most of the energy required to balance the hydraulic pressure acting on the plunger. The right angle lever arrangement (63-61-64) and movement of the accumulator plate (56) allows the spring (59) to be locked in its compressed state (with the modulation chamber at low pressure) until activation of the spring is required to assist in returning the plunger to a higher pressure position.

In the field of avionics, it is difficult to justify initiation of new aircraft programmes for replacement of small numbers of niche aircraft. Instead, in many cases, retrofitting existing aircraft is preferred for economic reasons. In this respect, upgrading existing braking systems to accommodate replacement of existing brake units employing sintered friction materials with brake units employing carbon-carbon composite friction materials is desirable. However, when upgrading the braking systems it is necessary to ensure that the integrity of the existing airframe is not compromised by the use of the new brake assemblies employing the carbon-carbon composite friction materials. Consequently, the present invention replaces existing pressure control valves of existing braking systems with an electronic control unit (126) coupled to a pressure control servovalve (128), thereby ensuring proper application of hydraulic pressure to brake assemblies (122). An advantage of this invention is that the pressure profile of the hydraulic fluid is controllable and hence the integrity of the airframe is maintained.
