Shape features in natural images influence emotions aroused in human beings. An in-depth statistical analysis helps to understand the relationship between shapes and emotions. Through experimental results on the International Affective Picture System (IAPS) dataset, evidence is presented as to the significance of roundness-angularity and simplicity-complexity on predicting emotional content in images. Shape features are combined with other state-of-the-art features to show a gain in prediction and classification accuracy. Emotions are modeled from a dimensional perspective in order to predict valence and arousal ratings, which have advantages over modeling the traditional discrete emotional categories. Images are distinguished vis-a-vis strong emotional content from emotionally neutral images with high accuracy. 1. The invention is directed towards segmenting images based on natural language phrases. An image and an n-gram, including a sequence of tokens, are received. An encoding of image features and a sequence of token vectors are generated. A fully convolutional neural network identifies and encodes the image features. A word embedding model generates the token vectors. A recurrent neural network (RNN) iteratively updates a segmentation map based on combinations of the image feature encoding and the token vectors. The segmentation map identifies which pixels are included in an image region referenced by the n-gram. A segmented image is generated based on the segmentation map. The present disclosure describes systems, non-transitory computer-readable media, and methods for accurately and efficiently removing objects from digital images taken from a camera viewfinder stream. For example, the disclosed systems access digital images from a camera viewfinder stream in connection with an undesired moving object depicted in the digital images. The disclosed systems generate a temporal window of the digital images concatenated with binary masks indicating the undesired moving object in each digital image. The disclosed systems further utilizes a 3D to 2D generator as part of a 3D to 2D generative adversarial neural network in connection with the temporal window to generate a target digital image with the region associated with the undesired moving object in-painted. In at least one embodiment, the disclosed systems provide the target digital image to a camera viewfinder display to show a user how a future digital photograph will look without the undesired moving object.

Automatically computing emotions aroused from images through shape modeling

Shape features in natural images influence emotions aroused in human beings. An in-depth statistical analysis helps to understand the relationship between shapes and emotions. Through experimental results on the International Affective Picture System (IAPS) dataset, evidence is presented as to the significance of roundness-angularity and simplicity-complexity on predicting emotional content in images. Shape features are combined with other state-of-the-art features to show a gain in prediction and classification accuracy. Emotions are modeled from a dimensional perspective in order to predict valence and arousal ratings, which have advantages over modeling the traditional discrete emotional categories. Images are distinguished vis-a-vis strong emotional content from emotionally neutral images with high accuracy. All of the methods and steps disclosed herein are implemented on a programmed digital computer, which may be a stand-alone machine or integrated into another piece of equipment such as a digital still or video camera including, in all embodiments, portable devices such as smart phones.

The discriminative neural networks detect whether the filled digital image and the hole-filling digital content correspond to or include computer-generated content or are photo-realistic. The generating and detecting are iteratively continued until the discriminative neural networks fail to detect computer-generated content for the filled digital image and hole-filling content or until detection surpasses a threshold difficulty.
