The present invention relates to a composition for treating skin cancer or inhibiting metastasis of skin cancer, which comprises timosaponin AIII, a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof or an extract of Anemarrhena asphodeloides roots comprising timosaponin AIII, as an active ingredient. Particularly, it is shown that an extract of Anemarrhena asphodeloides roots and timosaponon AIII inhibit metastasis of melanoma cells to the lung in mouse (B16-F10) and human (WM-115) cells and have an effect of inhibiting metastasis of melanoma cells generated in mice (B16) as an animal model. Base on this, the present invention provides a pharmaceutical composition, health-aid food composition and skin externals comprising timosaponin AIII, a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof or an extract of Anemarrhena asphodeloides roots comprising timosaponin AIII, as an active ingredient.
