[Also in Division C5] A process for the separation of oleoginous and proteinic constituents of vegetable substances comprises the step of adding to the vegetable substances at least one tannin-containing substance. Preferably the mixture is submitted to mechanical pressure in the presence of water at an elevated temperature e.g. above 80‹C. The tannin-containing substance may be added in the form of a powder or a concentrated solution e.g. a tanning extract. The vegetable starting material may comprise peanut, sunflower, colza, cotton, soya or linseed, preferably in the form of decanticated grains. Oil cakes may be treated with the tannin-containing substance to improve their nutritive properties by rendering proteins insoluble and forming complexes with them which are inaccessible to the bacterial deaminases.

A biodegradable hydrogel has been made based on high concentrations of whey protein isolate (WP1). WP1 gels of different compositions were fabricated by thermally inducing gelation of high-concentration suspensions of protein, and characterized for compressive strength and modulus, hydration swelling and drying properties, mechanical behavior change due to polysaccharide additives, and intrinsic pore network structure. The gels were shown to be compatible with bone cells and could be used as bone tissue scaffolds. In addition, WP1 fibers were produced by electrospinning. Several additives could be incorporated into the WPI gels, including structural additives, growth factors, amino acids, etc. The WP1 hydrogels can be made with glycerol to increase flexibility and stability. The hydrogels could be used for tissue regeneration, food protection, controlled-release applications (including drug encapsulation, dietary supplement release, attractant release in lures, nutrient release to plants (fertilizers), column packing for compound separation, and membrane development.

1) A method for obtaining a concentrated protein-rich phase from residues of bioethanol production. 2.1) Previously, the separation of a protein-rich phase from whole stillage from bioethanol production has been achieved either by the addition of chemicals or by process steps that are complex in terms of equipment and/or energy. 2.2) Whole stillage from bioethanol production is fed to a solid-liquid separation, and the liquid phase (thin stillage) resulting from this is partially returned to the mashing process. This recirculation increases the raw protein content in the process. Part of the thin stillage is diluted and fed to a simple separation process without the addition of chemicals and temperature treatment, with a protein-rich phase being obtained. 2.3) A protein-rich phase is obtained from residues of bioethanol production.

Номер: US20170042194A1
Принадлежит:

Methods for preparing dog food compositions formulated for small dogs with certain body conformation types comprise categorizing a small dog for which the food composition is intended. Preferably the small dog is categorized as a robust or athletic body conformation type. The methods further comprise formulating a dog food composition to contain feed ingredients and amounts thereof based on the categorizing of the small dog. The protein and fat content of the food composition can be adjusted based upon the robust or athletic category for a particular dog or dog type. The categorizing uses a modified body mass index, namely body weight/[(height−height of the sternum to the floor)×body length]. In some embodiments, the categorizing can use skin fold measurements. 1. A method comprising:categorizing a small dog as one of a plurality of body conformation types, the categorizing based at least partially on a modified body mass index of the small dog, the modified body mass index is body weight/[(height−height of the sternum to the floor)×body length]; andformulating a dog food composition for the small dog, the dog food composition is formulated to contain feed ingredients and amounts thereof based on the categorizing of the small dog.2.
