The ice-snow melting method by use of the wire comprises the following steps: switching current of the wire transmitting power through the aluminum wire layer (1) onto the steel core (2) under normal weather conditions; allowing the current to pass through the steel core (2); emitting heat through the steel core (2) to melt ice; and switching the current onto the aluminum wire layer (1) again after ice-snow on the wire is melted. The wire can eliminate covering ice seriously formed on the surfaces of power transmission lines on the premise that the manufacturing cost of the wire is not obviously increased.
