A service testing system is disclosed to enable consistent replay of stateful requests on a service whose output depends on the service's execution state prior to the requests. In embodiments, the service implements a compute engine that executes service requests and a storage subsystem that maintains execution states during the execution of stateful requests. When a stateful request is received during testing, the storage subsystem creates an in-memory test copy of the execution state to support execution of the request, and provides the test copy to the compute engine. In embodiments, the storage subsystem will create a separate instance of execution state for each individual test run. The disclosed techniques enable mock execution states to be easily created for testing of stateful requests, in a manner that is transparent to the compute engine and does not impact production execution data maintained by the service.

Existing thermal imaging devices are used in fixed configurations or on platforms and are bulky and expensive. In addition they are unsuitable for harsh marine environments. The invention is an imaging device and comprises: a thermal imager, which in use is housed within a sealed housing. A pan and tilt mechanism is supported in the housing for displacing the thermal imager. A dome, formed from an infra-red (IR) transmitting material, covers and seals the housing (which is ideally filled with an inert gas) thereby resulting in an arrangement that is resistant to exposure to water and salt and so provides an imager suitable for marine environments, as well resulting in an overall reduction in size of the imager compared with exposed pan and tilt mechanisms. 1. An imaging device comprises: a thermal imager for forming an image of an object from IR radiation from the object , the imager being housed within a hermetically sealed housing , a pan and tilt mechanism for displacing the thermal imager; and a window , defined by at least a portion of dome , formed from an infra-red (IR) transmitting material , the window in sue is located intermediate the object and the thermal imager.2. In some preferred embodiments, a skip fire engine controller is provided that includes a firing fraction calculator, an engine settings controller, a firing fraction adjuster and a firing controller. The firing fraction calculator determines a reference firing fraction indicative of a firing fraction suitable for delivering a desired engine output at a reference working chamber firing output. The engine settings controller is arranged to set selected engine settings. The firing fraction adjuster determines an adjusted firing fraction that scales the reference firing fraction appropriately such that the engine will deliver the desired engine output at the current engine settings even when the actual working chamber firing outputs do not equal the reference working chamber firing output. The firing controller direct workings chamber firings in a skip fire manner that delivers the adjusted firing fraction.
