The present invention relates to a method for forming a catalyst having various shapes such as a bar and the like, and more specifically, to a method for manufacturing a catalyst, which is capable of forming a catalyst in the desired size and shape quickly and in large quantities by making a ceramic thick film like jelly in the shape of a plate and cutting the same into various shapes and sizes, and then sintering the same. The method for forming a catalyst comprises the following steps: making slurry by adding metal oxide powder, a binder, and deionized water, and mixing the same; adjusting the pH and viscosity of the slurry by adjusting the amount of the powder added to the slurry; mixing the slurry in a mixer, then removing the deionized water so as to make the slurry in a semi-dried state; drying the semi-dried slurry by keeping the same in a dryer at 50-70°C for 2-5 hours; and sintering the dried catalyst by primary and secondary heat treatments.
