... 일차원 사영된 에지정보를 이용한 보행자 검출 장치 및 방법이 개시된다. 본 발명에서는 상호상관(cross correlation) 방법으로 얻어진 시차맵(disparity map)의 상대적인 안정도에 따라 거리정보와 에지(edge) 등의 영상 특징정보를 분석하여 보행자 여부를 판단한다. 즉, 안정적으로 거리정보가 추출된 영역에서는 거리 프로파일(profile)의 폭과 너비, 그리고 지면과의 접합 정도에 따라 장애물을 검출한다. 그리고 시차맵에서 많은 오차가 존재하는 영역에서는 거리정보에 의존하지 않고 입력 영상의 에지 정보를 이용한다. 이를 위해 사용자가 쉽게 사용할 수 있는 S/W 인터페이스를 통해 실외 환경에서 보행자에 대한 참조(reference) 데이터를 사전에 저장한다. 그리고 해당 보행자 영역의 에지를 수평 및 수직방향으로 1차원 사영한 히스토그램 분포를 미리 저장하고, 실제 입력 영상과의 상호상관 연산으로 보행자를 실시간에 강건하게 검출한다.
