The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating inflammatory diseases, comprising aripiprazole as an active ingredient. The aripiprazole of the present invention shows a negligible decrease in cell viability within RAW264.7 cells, and thus has no cytotoxicity; shows concentration-dependent suppression of NO formation, prostaglandin E_2 (PGE_2) formation and cytokine (COX-2 and TNF-α) secretion; and shows an excellent stomach damage-suppressing effect in in vivo inflammation models induced with acute inflammation.
