Fatty oils; lubricants for machinery. - Castor oil is made blendable with mineral oil by the successive operations of treatment with strong sulphuric acid in the cold; agitation, settling, mixing with hot water, passage of an electric current between zinc plates immersed in the oil, and the separation of the oil from the zinc sulphate solution produced. Mixtures of the treated oil and suitable mineral oils are used as lubricants for machinery.
