USE OF AMINES AND/OR MANNICH ADDUCTS IN FUEL AND LUBRICANT COMPOSITIONS FOR DIRECT INJECTION SPARK IGNITION ENGINES

Номер: US20130237466A1
Принадлежит: BASF SE

The present invention relates to the use of amines and/or Mannich adducts as detergents and/or dispersants in fuel and lubricant compositions for direct-injection gasoline engines. The invention further relates to fuel and lubricant compositions which comprise at least one such Mannich adduct, and also a bisaminoalkylated Mannich adduct. 218-. (canceled) The present invention relates to the use of amines and/or Mannich adducts as detergents and/or dispersants in fuel and lubricant compositions for direct-injection gasoline engines. The invention further relates to fuel and lubricant compositions which comprise at least one such Mannich adduct, and also a bisaminoalkylated Mannich adduct.Direct-injection gasoline engines are becoming increasingly important, since, especially in the lean range, i.e. at a lambda value of about 1 or greater, they enable better fuel utilization and a simultaneous increase in the engine output. This is accompanied by reduced carbon dioxide emission in comparison to conventional gasoline engines. The injection nozzles in direct-injection gasoline engines are disposed in the combustion chamber and are therefore exposed to extreme conditions. Under these conditions, intense decomposition and oxidation of the fuel takes place and an increased amount of deposits forms. Deposition problems affect mainly the injection nozzles, but also the inlet valves and the entire combustion chamber. Deposits on the injection nozzles restrict the fuel feed and change the injection behavior. A slightly reduced fuel feed can be compensated by appropriate electronic control; stronger feed restriction and change in the injection behavior can no longer be counteracted. However, for optimum fuel utilization and performance increase, impeccable injection behavior is essential. Therefore, the formation of deposits is to be avoided to a very substantial extent. In contrast to conventional engines in which relatively rich mixtures cause deposits, it is especially lean ...

The present disclosure relates to a non-acidic, sulfur-containing, phosphorus-containing compound of the formula I 123-. (canceled)2629-. (canceled) This disclosure relates to lubricant additives that may be used in a lubricating fluid having satisfactory anti-wear characteristics without detrimental surface and toxicological effects. The disclosure also relates to the preparation of such lubricant additives and concentrates containing such lubricant additives, as well as devices lubricated with a lubricating fluid that includes such lubricant additives. The use of sulfur and phosphorus-containing compounds as anti-wear additives in lubricant compositions is known. In general, the sulfur and phosphorus-containing compounds comprise alkyl acid phosphates, alkyl acid thiophosphates, alkyl acid dithiophosphates, and their amine or metal salts. For example, zinc dialkyldithiophosphate (ZDDP) is a well-known sulfur and phosphorus-containing anti-wear agent. Because zinc is an environmental contaminate, the industry is under pressure to find novel metal free (i.e. ashless) antiwear additives. In addition, because these compounds have acidic functionality, the compounds may actually attack the surface of the metal parts being lubricated and thus cause greater wear or corrosion. As automobile manufacturers continue to make larger trucks with more powerful engines the amount of torque applied to the axles of these vehicles has increased enormously. Accordingly, the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) have placed increased demands on the lubricant industry to address the increase in torque and extend axle life. In particular, what is needed is a lubricant composition having improved antiwear, thermal stability, and oxidative stability. Furthermore, there is needed a lubricant composition that can provide improved antiwear and thermal stability as evidenced by automotive screening tests such as the L-37 test ASTM D-6121.Finally, a more recent problem attributed to known ...

Stabilized Blends Containing Friction Modifiers

Номер: US20140073543A1
Принадлежит: THE LUBRIZOL CORPORATION

The present invention relates to functional fluid compositions containing friction modifiers, and specifically stable compositions containing friction modifiers with limited solubility in and/or limited compatibility with the functional fluids with which they are used. In particular the present invention deals with functional fluids used in internal combustion engines, such as engine oils, and friction modifiers derived from hydroxy-carboxylic acids, where the friction modifier is present in the functional fluid composition at levels that would otherwise cause the composition to be unstable and/or hazy. 1. A composition comprising:(a) a medium comprising a solvent, a functional fluid, an additive concentrate or combinations thereof; and(b) a friction modifier component comprising a derivative of a hydroxy-carboxylic acid that is not fully soluble in the medium; and(c) a stabilizing component that is soluble in (a) and that interacts with (b) such that (b)'s solubility in (a) is improved;wherein components (b) and (c), or (b) alone, are present in component (a) in the form of dispersed particles having an average diameter of less than 10 microns; andwherein the stabilizing component comprises a compound having at least one hydrogen-donating group, a least one hydrogen-accepting group, and at least one hydrocarbyl group, where the hydrogen-donating group and the hydrogen-accepting group are not separated by more than 8 bonds, wherein said bonds include covalent and ionic bonds.4. The composition of wherein the A in the formula of the poly(hydroxycarboxylic acid) amide salt derivative is fully saturated.5. The composition of wherein the high molecular weight polyetheramine is represented by the formula R(OCHCHR)A wherein R is a Cto Calkyl group or a Cto Calkyl-substituted phenyl group; Ris ethyl; x is a number from 5 to 50; and A is —OCHCHCHNHor —NRRwherein Rand Rare independently hydrogen claim 2 , a hydrocarbyl group claim 2 , or —(RNR)Rwherein Ris an alkylene group ...
