The grafted polyolefin is first made by heating a polyolefin and an unsaturated monomer. Further reaction of the live, grafted polyolefin with an olefin elastomer provides the graft composition. Grafting efficiency is boosted dramatically by the presence of the olefin elastomer and use of the additional reaction step. The graft composition, when formulated into a tie-layer adhesive at low concentration, affords multilayer structures with good adhesion and high clarity.

The flame resistance, the heat resistance, and the wash resistance under ISO 11613-1999 as the international performance standards for fireproof clothing are: (1) flame resistance to be free from hole formation, dripping and melting; and to have afterflame time and afterglow time of not more than 2 seconds; (2) heat resistance to be free from firing, separation, dripping and melting; and to have a shrinkage rate of not more than 5%; and (3) washing resistance to have a shrinkage rate of not more than 3%. The fireproof clothing of the present invention includes the fire-protecting waterproof moisture-permeable sheet as an interlayer waterproof fabric for the fireproof clothing. Thereby, the present invention provides a fire-protecting waterproof moisture-permeable sheet that has excellent light resistance and heat resistance, and preferable dye-affinity and that can be produced at low cost, and fireproof clothing using the sheet.

Ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymers have superior gas barrier properties, but are inferior in bending fatigue resistance. The present invention improves bending fatigue resistance without reducing the gas barrier property and heat resistance. An ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer having an ethylene content of 20 to 50 percent by mole is modified by incorporating 0.01 to 1% mol of a structural unit expressed by the following formula (3): wherein, n indicates an integer of 2 to 5, m indicates an integer of 10 to 20, and R 1 indicates a C 1 to C 20 aliphatic hydrocarbon group provided that R 1 may contain a mercapto group, thioester group, sulfenamide, vinyl group, methacryloxy group, or acryloxy group. The modified ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer may be used as a gas barrier resin and this gas barrier resin may be shaped or laminated and used in various applications such as in pneumatic tires and hoses.

The disclosure relates to a laminated, thermoformable barrier film useful as a peelable surface liner, such as in containers and other shaped articles. The laminated film includes at least two layers, including a distal layer and a medial layer.
