A particle separator for treating exhaust gases from an internal combustion engine includes a housing having an inlet opening, an outlet opening, a central axis, a first part with a first joining surface and a second part with a second joining surface. The first and second joining surfaces correspond to one another, so that the first and second parts can be positioned along the central axis relative to one another. At least one metallic layer, through which exhaust gas can flow, spaces the first and second joining surfaces apart over the entire circumference. The particle separator can be manufactured cost-effectively in a simple manner with few measures and, in particular, is suitable for retrofitting to an existing exhaust system. A method for producing the particle separator and a motor vehicle having the particle separator are also provided. 1. A particle separator for the treatment of exhaust gases of an internal combustion engine , the particle separator comprising:a housing having an inlet opening, an outlet opening, a central axis, a first part with a first joining surface and a second part with a second joining surface, said first and second joining surfaces corresponding to one another; andat least one metallic layer through which exhaust gas can flow, said at least one metallic layer disposed in said housing and spacing said first and second joining surfaces apart from one another over a full circumference of said first and second joining surfaces.2. The particle separator according to claim 1 , wherein said first and second joining surfaces do not lie in a flat plane.3. The particle separator according to claim 1 , which further comprises an outer housing bracing said at least one metallic layer and said first and second parts with one another.4.
