The cable-type secondary battery has free shape adaptation due to its linearity and flexibility. Introduction of the electrolyte layer on the electrode prevents a short circuit. The presence of a plurality of electrodes leads to an increased contact area therebetween and consequently a high battery rate. By adjusting the number of the anodes and the cathodes, it is easy to control the capacity balance therebetween.

Disclosed is an electrolyte for an electrochemical device. The electrolyte includes a composite of a plastic crystal matrix electrolyte doped with an ionic salt and a crosslinked polymer structure. The electrolyte has high ionic conductivity comparable to that of a liquid electrolyte due to the use of the plastic crystal, and high mechanical strength comparable to that of a solid electrolyte due to the introduction of the crosslinked polymer structure. Further disclosed is a method for preparing the electrolyte. The method does not essentially require the use of a solvent. Therefore, the electrolyte can be prepared in a simple manner by the method. The electrolyte is suitable for use in a cable-type battery whose shape is easy to change due to its high ionic conductivity and high mechanical strength.

Present application relates to methods for determining whether a subject has heart failure or is at risk of having heart failure, specifically that of heart failure with reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (HFREF) and a heart failure with preserved left ventricular ejection fraction (HFPEF), comprising determining the level of selected miRNA(s) observed in a sample obtained from the subject and wherein an altered level of the miRNA(s) compared to control indicates that the subject has heart failure or is at risk of developing heart failure. Also encompassed are methods of determining an altered risk of death or disease progression to hospitalization and death based on alteration of selected miRNAs in a sample from the subject and kits thereof.

An apparatus and method for conducting a nail penetration test for a secondary battery are provided. The apparatus for conducting the nail penetration test includes: a stage on which the secondary battery, which is an object of the nail penetration test, is fixed; a nail penetration unit including a nail elevating/lowering means; a voltage measuring unit configured to repeatedly measure a short-circuit voltage of the secondary battery with a time interval during the nail penetration test; and a controller operably coupled to the voltage measuring unit. The controller periodically receives a short-circuit voltage from the voltage measuring unit, determines a short-circuit current allowing the received short-circuit voltage to be applied between outermost nodes of an equivalent circuit which models the secondary battery whenever the short-circuit voltage is received, and visually outputs a change in the determined value of the short-circuit current according to time through a display unit. 1.
