A connector, suitable for attaching a cable 3 to a seabed pipeline 4 to allow heating of the pipe to prevent hydrate formation of fluid transported in the pipe, comprises a conical socket 2 welded to the pipeline 4 and a complementary cone shaped cable terminal 1. A threaded bolt 9 is mounted coaxially to the end of the cable terminal 1; on connection of the connector a nut 6 is turned on the bolt 9 locking against a backing plate 5 and securing the connection. The backing plate 5 can be hinged for swinging into position. In order to facilitate connection, the cable 3 has a pulling wire 7 pulled from a surface vessel 13 around a pulley 8. Completion of the connection and locking of the nut 6 can be performed by a remotely operated vehicle (ROV).
