The step of determining the position of the or each object of interest using their feature points being repeated, more frequently than for other feature points in the images. The application may be applied to robotic vision or augmented reality for video games.

Apparatus and method of nausea reduction for in-car entertainment

A method or system of nausea reduction comprising detecting vehicle motion; estimating a component of the motion that is parallel to a display; shifting output content in a direction opposing the estimated component; and outputting the shifted content on the display. The vehicle motion may be detected within a nauseogenic frequency range that may be one of: a range with an upper bound below the ride frequency of the car, or a range within 0.5Hz to 0.8 Hz. The display may comprise an orientation sensor such that the estimated component that is parallel to the display may be responsive to the detected orientation. When the display is substantially vertical the vertical and lateral motion of the car may be detected. When the display is substantially horizontal the fore-aft and lateral movement of the car may be detected. The display may be mounted within the vehicle or integral with an entertainment device.

System and method of head mounted display personalisation

A personalisation system configured to perform head mounted display personalisation comprises a head mounted display ‘HMD’ comprising at least a first video camera, a simultaneous localization and mapping processor configured to detect feature points of a real 5 world environment captured by the at least first video camera when the HMD is worn by a user, a user identification processor configured to identify the user responsive to at least a subset of the detected feature points of the real world environment, a personalisation processor configured to personalise at least a first aspect of presenting graphical content to the user with the HMD in response to identification of the user, and a storage processor operable to store, in a memory, personalisation information in association with the identification of the user for subsequent use.

Processing devices, systems and methods

A video game system includes a console 220, a handheld controller 230 and an intermediate processing device 210. The controller may initially communicate with the console using a first protocol having a short range. When the controller moves out of this range, it switches to communicating via the first protocol with the intermediate device, which then relays this communication to the console using a second communication protocol having a longer range than the first protocol. The intermediate device may be e.g. a mobile phone.
