The invention relates to novel linear, semi-crystalline, functional fluoropolymers that have been obtained by copolymerizing a fluorinated vinylic monomer and a hydrophilic monomer chosen from vinyl alkyl acids, vinyl phosphonates, functional acrylamides, carbonates, vinyl ethers, alkoxy compounds, and double hydrophilic group monomers. 1. A fluorinated copolymer comprising a fluorinated vinylic monomer and one or more hydrophilic monomers selected from the group consisting of vinyl alkyl acids , vinyl phosphonates , functional acrylamides , carbonates , vinyl ethers , alkoxy compounds , and double hydrophilic group monomers.2. The copolymer of comprising up to 10.0 wt % of said hydrophilic monomers.3. The copolymer of claim 1 , wherein said fluorinated vinylic monomer comprises vinylidene fluoride.4. The copolymer of claim 1 , wherein at least one of said hydrophilic monomers comprise at least one halogen on the vinylic carbon.5. The copolymer of claim 4 , wherein said at least one halogen comprises fluorine.12. The copolymer of claim 1 , wherein said multi hydrophilic functional comonomer claim 1 , are selected from the group consisting of itaconic acid claim 1 , maleic acid claim 1 , glutaconic acid claim 1 , fumaric acid claim 1 , and the anhydrides claim 1 , alkali metal salts claim 1 , ammonium claim 1 , and mono- claim 1 , di- claim 1 , tri- claim 1 , and tetraalkylammonium salts thereof.13. A formulation comprising the fluorinated copolymer of claim 1 , in a solvent.14. The formulation of claim 13 , wherein said solvent is selected from the group consisting of n-methylpyrrolidone (NMP) claim 13 , dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) claim 13 , N claim 13 ,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) claim 13 , triethylphosphite (TEP) claim 13 , acetone claim 13 , tetrahydrofuran claim 13 , methyl ethylketone (MEK) claim 13 , methyl isobutyl ketone (MiBK) claim 13 , ethyl acetate (EA) claim 13 , butyl acetate (BA) claim 13 , dimethyl carbonate (DMC) claim 13 , diethyl carbonate (DEC) and ...
