On-camera LED fresnel lighting system including active cooling

A lighting apparatus for film, television, video capture, motion picture and photography which includes a Fresnel lens fixed in a housing which contains a tight array of high power LEDs. The LED panel or board is mated to a heat dissipating apparatus to provide active cooling and together forming an LED engine. The LED engine is mounted to a slider allowing the LED engine to be adjusted within the housing with respect to the lens. Light shaping diffusion may be included on the housing. A power supply unit may also be included in the housing. When in electrical communication, the LED engine and power supply unit function as an integrated self-contained lighting apparatus. Optionally, the power supply may have an integrated dimmer switch, and may be capable of receiving PFC power or have an integrated battery unit.

An outdoor area LED lighting system including: a housing containing a large array of LEDs mounted to an aluminum direct thermal path printed circuit board and a single lens. The present disclosure provides methods of using quantum dots or Q dots or a similar nanocrystal to transfer, for example, excess LED light energy in the blue band to the red band where such LEDs tend to be deficient. According to an aspect of the instant invention, an LED Engine is provided preferably for use with a Fresnel fixture having a globe socket wherein the LED Engine is plug compatible with the globe socket. The disclosure of the present invention includes light fixtures having variable LED array sizes to form different beam angles. These light fixtures are particularly suitable for sports/venue lights and are characterized by highly concentrated high power small LED light sources including small light sources of different size LED arrays which may include additional diffusion. The present disclosure also includes a lens which substantially dissipates light to reduce if not eliminate glare. The lens may be pressed, chemically etched (pickled), or sandblasted to become a micro-lens. The lens may, alternately, be a plastic material. A further aspect of the present disclosure is the incorporation of a segmented reflector to greatly reduce glare. A light shaping apparatus consisting of two or more components which may be die cast from aluminum, magnesium, or similar materials that are meant to be attached to existing LED venue lighting fixtures. These components are designed so that they can be rotated and adjusted on the fixture circumference/edge. A semi-circular snoot flares out slightly from the outer edge of the fixture to reflect light that would normally be absorbed by a visor. The snoot may include a reflector on its inside surface. The snoot has connection points that mate with the fixture. The snoot also has connection points which allow it to be connected to a semi-circular bowl spaded brow adapted for cutting into the beam of light and block some of light emitted from the fixture. The brow is preferably one piece and has multiple sets of thin shear lines cast into it such that the length of the brow can be modified by breaking off material along the shear lines.

A UV C light source including a UV C bulb adapted to emit and project UV C light at a wavelength and an interchangeable UV C light modifier through which at least a portion of the UV C light emitted from said UV C bulb is projected. The UV C light modifier may be reflective, such as a reflector, perforated, holographic material, or mechanical modifier such as a bam door. The UV C light modifier might produce a narrow pattern, circular pattern, flat pattern, or asymmetrical pattern or other desired geometric pattern, or upper air pattern. The UV C light modifier is easily removed and interchanged or may be selectable such as by receiving a base UV C fixture including the UV C light source of the present invention and selecting a desired light modifier.

The inventive system includes: a plurality of sensors dispersed at somewhat regular intervals throughout a monitored area; a communication network adapted to deliver information from the sensors to a host processor; and a process within the host processor for determining, from the absolute times of arrival of an event at two or more sensors, a position of the source of the event. Acoustic events are detected and analyzed at each sensor so that the sensor transmits over the network: an identifier for the sensor; an identifier for the type of event; and a precise absolute time of arrival of the event at the sensor. In a preferred embodiment, the system also identifies the type of weapon firing a gunshot.

An outdoor area LED lighting system including: a housing containing a large array of LEDs mounted to an aluminum direct thermal path printed circuit board and a single lens. The large array of LEDs are capable of producing light rays directed through the single lens to produce a beam of light to illuminate the outdoor area. The single lens is preferably a Fresnel lens. The housing is preferably capable of being sealed in a weather-tight manner. A second housing may at least partially surround the first housing such that at least one air passage is provided between the first housing and the second housing. A heat sink including a heat block in thermal communication with a plurality of heat tubes and fin assemblies may be in partial thermal contact with the LED module and in fluid communication with the at least one air passage. At least one fan may be provided in or in fluid communication with said at least one air passage to cool the heat sink. A digital interface may connect the LED module to a host computer to monitor and track information and trending for statistical process control.
