The present invention relates to a secure USB memory device using a beacon signal and an operation method thereof. A Bluetooth-based beacon module is added to conventional USB memory, and a unique authentication code, such as a unique MAC address of a portable terminal of a user, is registered in the secure USB memory device in advance when the USB memory device is used. When the secure USB memory device is used thereafter, the USB memory device can be used without performing an inconvenient process of pairing the USB memory device and the portable terminal again if only a beacon authentication signal, transmitted by the previously registered portable terminal, is present. When the USB memory device is lost, the USB memory device provides a security function for data by preventing the USB memory device from being used unless the USB memory device is operated in conjunction with the portable terminal of the user.
