The present invention relates to a method for rapidly decomposing organic waste by inserting iron oxide into alkali organic waste or a landfill of organic waste through injection of an alkali compound and using metabolism of anaerobic microorganisms. According to the present invention, in the organic waste or the organic waste landfill, which is alkalinized by injecting the alkali compound such as quicklime, NaOH or KOH, nitrate ions and sulfate ions at very low concentration for the metabolism of the microorganisms exist. Therefore, the speed of decomposing the organic waste by the microorganisms becomes very slow. When a material containing iron oxide ions of Fe (III), which can replace the nitrate ions and the sulfate ions, is injected, iron-reducing respiration of the anaerobic microorganisms, using Fe (III) ions as final electron acceptors, is accelerated.
