A mechanism and method for locking a bearing to a shaft includes a split sleeve and a receptive flange adapted to be fixed to the bearing. A positioning flange is coupled to the split sleeve. A screw extends through the positioning flange and threadingly engages the receptive flange. Rotation of the screw in a first direction axially drives the sleeve into engagement with the bearing to collapse the split sleeve into engagement with the shaft.

Delatch device having both push and pull operability for use with an optical transceiver module, and a method

An optical transceiver module is provided with a delatch device that is configured for pushing and pulling an optical transceiver module into and out of a cage. The delatch device includes an elongated handle having at least one strength member integrally formed therein or secured thereto that provides the handle with a sufficient moment of inertia to prevent the handle from bending or buckling when a force is being applied to the elongated handle to push an optical transceiver module into a cage. The elongated handle allows a module to easily be inserted into a cage by a user without the user having to directly access the front face of the module.

Compression casing for a fuel cell stack and a method for manufacturing a compression casing for a fuel cell stack

A fuel cell or electrolysis cell stack has force distribution members with one planar and one convex shape applied to at least its top and bottom face and in one embodiment further to two of its side faces. A compressed mat and further a rigid fixing collar surrounds the stack and force distribution members, whereby the stack is submitted to a compression force on at least the top and bottom face and potentially also to two side faces. The assembly is substantially gas tight in an axial direction of the primarily oval or circular shape and can be fitted with gas tight end plates to form robust gas inlet and outlet manifolds.

Scaffolding Clip and Applicator

A scaffolding clip and a scaffolding clip applicator tool are provided for fastening a web, such as a retaining mesh, to a scaffolding pole. During use a preferred method includes holding the fastening clip with the applicator, locating the web between the pole and the fastening clip, piercing the web with opposed ends of the clip and disengaging the applicator from the clip. In order to subsequently remove the clip from the pole a loop of the clip is engaged by a catch of the applicator and levered from the pole with a heel of the applicator that extends from opposite the catch and acts as a fulcrum.

Apparatus and method for mounting a plumbing fixture

A device for mounting of a plumbing fixture such as a faucet or the like through a hole in a counter, a sink or the like and connection of the fixture to a supply line. A collar member of the device is slidingly retained on an inlet tube of the fixture by a connecting nut of the supply line. A rod, guided in its axial movement by a guide member that is connected to the collar member, has a flag member that is rotatable between a stowed position and a deployed position. In the stowed position, the device may be passed through the hole when connected to the plumbing fixture and the supply line. In the deployed position, the flag member increases the axial profile of the device and co-acts with the body of the plumbing fixture in retaining the plumbing fixture in the hole.

Aircraft wing modification and related methods

A transferable modified leading edge for a wing is detachably mountable to a parent wing. The parent wing may use a NACA 23000-series airfoil. A modified wing tip may be used in conjunction with the modified leading edge. The modified leading edge can be mounted to a parent wing in a way that does not damage the parent wing. The modified leading edge and wing tip can provide increased lift.

Bedpost Shelf for Dormitory Room Bed

A shelf unit for attachment to the top of the bedpost of a dormitory room bed is described. The shelf has a bedpost interface which makes the shelf easy to install, without tools, and which will not damage the bedpost. The bedpost interface may be a pin that mates with a vertical hole located in many dormitory room bedposts, with an optional bracket to prevent the shelf from rotating about the axis of the pin. Alternatively, the bedpost interface may be a sleeve that fits snuggly over the top of the bedpost. The shelf unit may have a rail to prevent items held on the shelf from falling over the edge.

Rain guard

A rain guard assembly for providing shelter to an occupant entering or exiting a vehicle is described. Generally, the retractable rain guard assembly may comprise a housing integrally mounted within a roof of an automobile, a covering retractably held within the housing and having one or more engagement portions positioned along a free end of the covering, and one or more securement members positioned along a door of the automobile and aligned in a manner corresponding to positions of the one or more engagement portions. The one or more securement members are actuatable to engage to corresponding engagement portions such that opening of the door relative to the roof extends the covering therebetween. The covering may be engaged remotely, such as by a key fob, or automatically by a water detection sensor on the automobile.

An apparatus for connecting adjacent ends of first and second conduits including a frame assembly including a mounting point for mounting the end of the first conduit in a fixed position, a guide connected to the frame assembly and including first and second guide formations for receiving guide arms attached to the end of the second conduit and a moveable carrier mounted on the frame and including slots for engaging the guide arms. The carrier is moveable between a first position in which the slots align with the guide formations so that the guide arms can pass into the slots, and a second position in which the end of the second conduit is held against the end of the first conduit so as to allow a connection to be formed to secure the ends together.

A construction system for joining a plurality of CD cases comprising a plurality of component clips, wherein each component clip defines a front recess formed by a front upper arm, a front lower arm and a front support back connecting the two front arms, wherein the front arms are generally parallel; and wherein each clip further defines a groove on each of the two front arms adjacent to the support back within the front recess. A method of using a component clip comprising the steps of orienting the component clip and a CD case such that the CD case is adjacent but not within a first recess; and sliding the CD case into the first recess so that at least one lip on the CD case is received in one of the grooves in two opposing arms.

Self-piercing riveting

A method for forming a joint using a self-piercing rivet includes the steps of: positioning the sheet material over a die and providing a rivet having a substantially cylindrical shank and a head, the shank having a central blind bore and an annular piercing end spaced from said head. The ratio of the difference between the outside and inside diameters of the shank in the region around the bore to the outside diameter of the shank is in the range 0.47 to 0.52. The method also includes positioning a rivet over the sheet material at a position opposite the die and using a punch to set the rivet and force it into the sheet material such that it pierces the upper surface thereof and such that the shank deforms outwardly to interlock with the material but without penetration to the die side of the material.

Tongue cleaner and method for manufacturing the same

A tongue cleaner in which a gap between a concavely curved surface formed in a cleaner head and a sheet for covering the same is minimized or eliminated, decreasing the likeliness of tongue coating to accumulate therebetween. A head is provided with a first sheet on a face of the head formed with a concavely curved surface. The sheet is fixed to a lateral side of the head, enabling the sheet opposed to the concavely curved surface to be slidable thereon. After arranging a sheet material on the concavely curved surface with the head being in a single-piece state as a component of the tongue cleaner, the sheet material is pressed against the concavely curved surface by means of a lower mold and an upper mold.

Method of assembling a handle to a selective one of a front face and a side edge of a refrigerator door

A method of assembling allows a refrigerator handle to be selectively mounted to a front face portion or a side edge of a refrigerator door. The handle includes first and second ends separated by an intermediate portion, wherein each of the handle ends includes a recessed section. Each of the recessed sections includes a mounting arrangement formed therein, which is adapted to receive either a bracket for mounting the handle to the side edge of the door or a clip for mounting the handle to the front face portion of the door. The method includes selectively attaching the handle to the front face of the door through the clip, or to the side edge with the mounting bracket.

Self-Sealing Fastener

An apparatus for making and using a fastener suitable for use in airplane manufacture or repair that is coated with a pre-mixed moisture cure sealant. The sealant layer is coated with a frangible moisture barrier that will break apart when the fastener is installed, thus exposing the sealant to a moisture source. Once exposed to moisture, the sealant will begin to cure. Preferred embodiments also provide a premature cure indicator that provides a visual indication that the outer moisture resistant layer has been damaged.

Quick release camera mounting device and methods of use

A camera mounting device and associated method are disclosed. The device can securely affix a camera to a strap of varying properties. The device provides a strap attachment mechanism used to connect the device to a strap such as a belt or a backpack strap. The device also includes a camera attachment mechanism used to attach a camera to the device while allowing its locking and release through a quick release mechanism. The device also includes a lens support extension with a support extension sized and oriented to provide secondary support to a long lens of a camera, such as a lens of a SLR-type camera.

Fastener for constructing posts for furniture

The disclosure relates to a fastening device with a stem which is engaged on a first end by a cross-dowel with a transverse threaded aperture and on a second end by a cylinder with a set-screw. The second end of the stem includes an aperture surrounded by an oval-shaped longitudinally elongated countersunk region. This aperture can capture the set-screw within a small range of longitudinal positions, thereby allowing for fine adjustments to be made to align the sidewalls of adjacent post segments joined by the fastening device.

Shock mount support assembly for heavy-duty vehicles

A shock mount support assembly for a shock absorber of a suspension assembly of an axle/suspension system includes a shock support bracket formed with an opening. A fastener is disposed through the opening in the shock support bracket and an eyelet of the lower end of the shock absorber to loose-fit the shock support bracket to the shock absorber, and to the suspension assembly beam in a transverse direction. The shock support bracket includes at least one transversely elongated or oversized opening that aligns with an opening formed in the beam. A fastener is disposed through the pair of aligned openings in order to loose-fit attach the shock support bracket to the beam. During assembly, the eyelet fastener is tightened first drawing the shock support bracket transversely outboardly. The fastener disposed through the shock support bracket-to-beam attachment is tightened, rigidly attaching the shock support bracket to the suspension assembly.

An elongated support beam is provided for supporting internals such as liquid collectors, liquid distributors, packing supports, or trays within a mass transfer column. The support beam is divided longitudinally into a lower beam segment and an upper beam segment that are joined together by a plurality of connectors at one or more longitudinally spaced-apart positions. The connectors serve to stiffen and resist lateral deflection of the lower and upper beam segments in relation to each other and to transfer the load carried by the upper beam segment to the lower beam segment or vice-versa. By dividing the support beam into lower and upper beam segments, each of the lower and upper beam segments can be passed through a manway opening in a shell of the mass transfer column prior to assembly of the support beam or following disassembly of the support beam within the mass transfer column.

A robot is placed on a first surface of a panel. The robot includes a body and first and second feet connected to the body via joints. A flux conducting device is positioned on an opposing second surface of the panel, opposite the robot, so that each foot of the robot is magnetically coupled to the flux conducting device. The flux conducting device is moved along the exterior surface to pull the robot along the interior surface until an obstacle on the first surface is encountered. The robot decouples one of the feet from the flux conducting device, lifts the decoupled foot above the obstacle, and moves the decoupled foot past the obstacle.

Method for joining two objects and corresponding joining element

A first and a second object are joined with the aid of a joining element including at least in the region of its distal and proximal ends a thermoplastic material. Two blind holes facing each other are provided in the two objects and the joining element is positioned in the blind holes such that its distal and proximal ends are in contact with the bottom faces of the blind holes and such that there is a gap between the two objects. This assembly is then positioned between a support and a sonotrode. Releasable and Interchangeable Connections for Golf Club Heads and Shafts

Golf club heads are releasably engaged with shafts so that the club heads and shafts can be readily interchanged and/or so that the shaft position with respect to the club head can be readily changed. Assemblies for connecting the club head and shaft may include: a shaft adapter, a shaft retainer, and a club head having an interior chamber. The club head and shaft may be changed by releasing the securing system and exchanging the original parts with different parts. Furthermore, the shaft may be bent or otherwise extend at an angle from the shaft adapter so as to allow adjustment of the shaft position with respect to the club head.

Clamp for circular objects

A clamp includes first and second parts, each of the parts having a circular central section and a pair of straight extensions extending away from the circular central section in opposite directions. In the first part the holes are closed holes, while in the second part the holes are open holes, connected by slots to an upper edge of the part. Bolts may be pre-located through the closed holes, with nuts threaded onto the bolts, but not tightened. The pre-placed bolts may be received through the slots and into the open holes of the second part. The nuts may then be tightened against the second part to clamp the circular central sections on opposite sides of a circular object, such as a vertical pipe run, between the parts. According to a variant, the bolts are permanently secured to the first part so as to prevent rotation of the bolts.

A pallet protector unitarily formed as a molded plastic part reinforces a wooden pallet. Its faceplate is nailed or screwed to the front and optionally the back face and side faces of the pallet. The protector has entry openings for the tines of a forklift and the openings are articulated into hollow collars that extend into the pallets inner regions. These collars provide a structure that accepts the weight and moment between the tines and the pallet and spread it across of the entire front of the pallet. RFID modules can also be included.

Fence/rail assembly with concealed sliding, pivotal connection, and manufacturing method therefor

A fencing/railing assembly adapted to be positioned between a pair of posts and mounted thereto. The assembly includes a plurality of pickets, a plurality of rails extending transverse to the pickets, and one or more pivoting, sliding connectors for connecting a picket to a rail, with the sliding, pivotal connection concealed by the rail. The connector is slidably mounted to the rail and is pivotally connected to the picket. The sliding, pivotal connection allows the pickets to be oriented at greater angles relative to the rails (i.e. it allows the assembly to rack to a greater degree, thereby allowing the fencing/raining to following more-steeply changing terrain or contours). In one embodiment, an elongated connector strip is concealed by the rail and spans multiple pickets. In another embodiment, the assembly includes a plurality of shorter connectors, one for each picket/rail connection.

A device for anchoring a post to a supporting surface is disclosed. In one embodiment, the device comprises a base member and post mounting plate, the post mounting plate comprising a post-facing seat, the base member and post mounting plate comprising a plurality of first openings, each such first opening for accepting and accommodating a fastener for attaching the device to a post, and a plurality of second openings, each such second opening for accepting and accommodating a fastener for attaching the device to a supporting surface. Each first opening is disposed to accept a fastener, such as a screw, at an upwardly inclined angle and, further, at a laterally displaced offset angle. A quick connect apparatus for connecting a knife to a rotary disc cutterhead comprising a spring-loaded connector and a locking device which, when installed, prevents unintentional release of the knife from the cutterhead. The quick connector with locking device replaces a conventional bolted connection and reduces the time necessary to remove and reinstall a knife on a rotary cutterhead compared to a bolted knife connector while improving knife retention compared to known quick-change knife connection mechanisms.

Faucet lever safety lock

A faucet lever safety lock prevents operation of various faucets by preventing use of the faucets' handles. The faucet lever safety lock may comprise one or more struts configured to locate one or more handle engagement devices at a faucet's handles when the faucet lever safety lock is assembled. The handle engagement devices engage to prevent their movement and operation. The faucet lever safety lock may be secured in an assembled configuration via a coupling device that ensures that the handle engagement devices maintain their relative position. The coupling device may be releasable to allow the faucet lever safety lock to be disassembled to allow operation of the faucet.

Monitoring fastening loading

A retrofit system for providing a load indicator on a foundation bolt. The system includes a fastener having a fastener head, gauge length and central fastener bore in the gauge length and head. A datum rod is anchored in the central bore with a free datum rod being moveable longitudinally relative to the fastener head during elongation of the fastener gauge length. An internally threaded fastener portion below the central fastener bore is configured to thread over a foundation bolt. A compression sleeve positioned over the foundation bolt is configured to receive the load indicating fastener therein and to bear the compressive forces of the fastening. Elongation of the gauge length as the fastener is tightened onto the stud is manifest as displacement of the datum rod end, which displacement is measured to provide an indication of fastener loading.

Open Vessel Sealing Instrument and Method of Manufacturing the Same

An open electrosurgical forceps is provided and includes a pair of first and second shaft members each having a jaw member at a distal end thereof. A cutting mechanism is adapted to selectively and removably couple to one of the first and second shaft members. Multi-latching mechanisms and related methods

Dual directional latch devices or connectors are described wherein a first connector component and a second connector component have a first latched position and a second latched position when moving in a first direction and wherein movement in a second direction is also possible when a restriction feature is overcome. The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for securing a box cover to a watthour meter socket box. In certain embodiments, the apparatus has a clamping member that fits over a wall of a meter box, and a lock housing that locks to the clamping member after a box cover has been installed, thereby securing the cover to the box in a manner such that the box cover cannot be installed unless the clamping member has been installed correctly. In various other embodiments, the clamping member consists of a clamp disposed between a clamp actuating member and a fastening shelf. In various other embodiments, the clamp includes a stopping member for indicating when the clamp actuating member is actuated into a fully secured position. Other embodiments relate to a locking bracket and a lock housing wherein the locking bracket generally comprises a clamping member and a fastening lever that attaches to a wall of a meter box base. The lock housing generally comprises a unitary member with a perpendicular flange. The meter box lid is secured to the meter box base when the locking bracket is secured to the side wall (or another wall) and used in combination with the lock housing and a locking shaft.

Drop-in anchor

A retainer for a drop-in anchor includes a durable, moisture resistant member insertable into a sleeve of a drop-in anchor and configured to be retained in the sleeve by one or more threads disposed in the sleeve to prevent inadvertent removal of a plug from the sleeve. A drop-in anchor assembly includes a tubular sleeve having a first end including one or more internal threads, and an expandable second end. A plug is insertable in the sleeve such that when the plug is driven into an installed position in the sleeve the second end expands. A retainer formed of a durable moisture-resistant material is insertable in the sleeve behind the plug, and is configured to be retained in the sleeve by the one or more threads and prevent inadvertent removal of the plug from the sleeve.

Shape memory polymer devices

Various shape memory polymer (SMP) devices are disclosed. Many of these SMP devices can be used as attachment and/or release mechanisms for any number of different applications. These SMP devices can use various characteristics of the SMP material to allow for various shape changes. These shape changes, in some embodiments, can be used to provide for release and/or attachment devices, for example, SMP bolts, SMP screws, SMP collars, SMP pillars, SMP panels, and/or SMP rivets, to name a few. An SMP device can include a first geometric state and a second geometric shape. The first geometric shape can restrict motion of two distinct objects relative to one another and the second geometrical shape can allow motion of two distinct objects relative to one another.

Signage apparatus

A signage apparatus includes a plug-in hitch, a slack adjuster bracket, a water-resistant sign box, and an upright post. A coupling ( 10 ) for receiving and retaining the end of a conduit. The coupling ( 10 ) includes a leading body part ( 12 ), a grab ring ( 14 ), a sealing ring ( 16 ), a trailing body part ( 18 ) and a sleeve ( 11 ). The trailing body part ( 18 ) has an outer surface portion ( 46 ) which is inclined to diverge outwardly and a rear face ( 20 ) that extends from a trailing end of the outer surface ( 46 ), and that faces axially. The sleeve ( 11 ) extends circumferentially around the leading body part ( 12 ), the grab ring ( 14 ), the sealing ring ( 16 ) and the trailing body part ( 18 ). The sleeve ( 11 ) includes a forward end ( 24 ) for engaging the leading body part ( 12 ) a first axial portion ( 23 ) which extends from the forward end ( 24 ), an inclined portion ( 22 ) which extends from the axial portion ( 23 ) and which is inclined complimentary to the outer surface portion ( 46 ). The sleeve ( 11 ) further includes a trailing end portion ( 21 ) that extends from the inclined portion ( 22 ) to overlie the rear face ( 20 ) of the trailing body part ( 18 ) in close facing relationship. The sleeve ( 11 ) is operable to resist movement of the leading and trailing body parts ( 12, 18 ) axially away from each other.

Insulation assemblies for engine housings and associated methods of use and manufacture

Insulation assemblies and associated methods of use and manufacture are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, for example, an insulation assembly includes a plurality of insulation panels that are configured to releasably attach to an interior surface of an engine housing. The individual insulation panels can include a first surface configured to face the interior surface, and a second surface opposite the first surface and configured to face an engine in the housing. The insulation panels can each further include an attachment portion on the first surface carrying one or more first fasteners that releasably attach to a corresponding portion of the interior surface. The insulation panels can additionally include an attachment strap carried on the second surface. The attachment strap carries a second fastener that releasably attaches to a corresponding portion of the interior surface.

CONNECTOR SYSTEM

A connector system facilitates the connection of a first tree trunk to a second tree trunk of an artificial tree system. The connector system can prohibit rotation of the first tree trunk relative to the second tree trunk. 1. An artificial tree comprising:a first tree trunk section comprising a tapered end and an outwardly extending member, the outwardly extending member extending normal to the first tree trunk section;a second tree trunk section comprising a hollow end, the hollow end of the second tree trunk section configured to at least partially receive the tapered end of the first tree trunk section; anda sleeve disposed on an outer surface of the hollow end, the sleeve comprising a notch that is operable to at least partially receive and engage the outwardly extending member to provide a rotation locking characteristic between the first tree trunk section and the second tree trunk section.2. The artificial tree of claim 1 , wherein the notch is U-shaped.3. The artificial tree of claim 1 , further comprising a plastic insert configured to at least partially insert within the tapered end of the first tree trunk section.4. The artificial tree of claim 1 , wherein the sleeve comprises a first end having a first inner diameter claim 1 , a second end having a second inner diameter greater than the first inner diameter.5. The artificial tree of claim 4 , wherein the first inner diameter of the sleeve is approximately equal to an outer diameter of the hollow tapered end of the first tree trunk section and the second inner diameter of the sleeve is approximately equal to or greater than an outer diameter of the hollow end of the second tree trunk section.6. The artificial tree of claim 4 , wherein the first inner diameter of the sleeve is approximately equal to an inner diameter of the second tree trunk section.7. Lock Ring

A lock ring that has a first ring half, a second ring half and a latch assembly. The first ring half includes a nest opening on a front portion of the first ring half, a back end portion of the first ring portion hingedly connected to a back end portion of the second ring half. The latch assembly is connected to a front portion of the second ring half. The latch assembly includes a connection arrangement and a spring system. The connection arrangement is designed to be releasably positionable in the nest opening. The spring system is designed to cause the front portions of the first and second ring halves to be drawn toward one another when the connection arrangement is positioned in the nest opening.
