Electrically Heated Plastic Part for a Vehicle

Номер: US20120074120A1
Принадлежит: Individual

The invention relates to an electrically heated plastic part, for example a fuel hose, windshield wiper fluid hose or some other type of hose for a vehicle. Two electrically connected wires are embedded in one wall of the hose as electrical resistance heating conductors that, for example, extend helically and are twisted together, the wires requiring electrical insulation if they are twisted. The invention proposes using wires composed of different metals and connecting them with one another at a connection point. In this manner, a thermocouple is formed that makes it possible to measure the temperature at the connection point.

Three-dimensional information presentation device

Номер: US20120075878A1
Принадлежит: Nagoya Institute of Technology NUC

Three-dimensional information is presented directly on the surface of a target three-dimensional object without using a display device such as a display monitor and an HUD. Spatially coded light patterns are projected from two projectors on a target object surface. The light projected from the two projectors are added up on the object surface to produce unified color and luminance. On the object surface, light is simply added up, so that a pattern whose color and brightness correspond to distance and height appears. Hence, a distance to an object or a three-dimensional shape of an object can be highlighted by the color and brightness presented on the object for perception by human beings.

A mirror assembly for mounting to a handlebar of a motorcycle or other cycle vehicle, including a handle enabling an operator of the motorcycle to rotate the mirror without requiring the operator to remove a hand from the handlebar. The rotation swivels the mirror from a view to the rear to a position with a view to the side. Upon releasing the handle, a compression spring within the assembly returns the mirror to its original position. The mounting arrangement for the assembly includes two portions rotatable perpendicularly to one another, permitting the mirror arrangement to be adjusted after coupling with the handlebar such that the stem of the mirror is plumb. This ensures that when the handle is engaged rotating the mirror, the orientation of the mirror is maintained such that the top edge of the mirror remains level during rotation and that the mirror stem remains plumb.

A roadgraph may include a graph network of information such as roads, lanes, intersections, and the connections between these features. The roadgraph may also include one or more zones associated with particular rules. The zones may include locations where driving is typically challenging such as merges, construction zones, or other obstacles. In one example, the rules may require an autonomous vehicle to alert a driver that the vehicle is approaching a zone. The vehicle may thus require a driver to take control of steering, acceleration, deceleration, etc. In another example, the zones may be designated by a driver and may be broadcast to other nearby vehicles, for example using a radio link or other network such that other vehicles may be able to observer the same rule at the same location or at least notify the other vehicle's drivers that another driver felt the location was unsafe for autonomous driving.
