METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR FACILITATING CHANNEL ACCESS IN A COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

Номер: US20130176856A1

A transmission initiation interval timing structure is used in combination with a lower layer timing structure, e.g., physical layer timing structure. A device selects a subset of packet transmission initiation intervals and then limits initiation of packet transmission to those intervals thereby reducing the potential for collisions. Packet transmission may occur outside the initiation interval in which the transmission is initiated. In some embodiments, packet transmission length is intentionally limited to sizes which can be transmitted in a fraction of the amount of time the physical layer allows a single device to continuously transmit, e.g., in an amount of time which is equal to or less than the duration of a packet transmission initiation interval. This increases the probability that multiple devices will be able to successfully transmit small packets at short intervals on a regular basis even when carrier sensing techniques are used. 1. A method of operating a communications device to transmit packets , the method comprising:storing information defining a plurality of transmission initiation intervals, said transmission initiation intervals corresponding to a recurring broadcast interval including multiple packet transmission opportunities;monitoring for use of transmission resources during at least a portion of said recurring broadcast interval;selecting a subset of transmission initiation intervals corresponding to a portion of said recurring broadcast interval as a function of signals detected on said transmission resources during said monitoring; andrestricting initiation of packet transmission to transmission initiation intervals associated with said communications device, initiation of packet transmission triggering an attempt to transmit a packet, said attempt to transmit including a channel sensing operation.2. A terminal device decreases degradation of communication performance that is caused by interference and increases in the case that a CCA level is increased. The terminal device communicating with a base station apparatus includes a transmitting unit that transmits a frame, a transmission burst length setting unit that modifies a transmission burst length of the frame, and a carrier sense unit that performs carrier sensing before the frame is transmitted. The transmission burst length is different depending on whether a threshold value for the carrier sensing is configured to a first value or a second value. 1. A terminal device communicating with a base station device , comprising:a transmitting unit that transmits a frame,a transmission burst length setting unit that modifies a transmission burst length of the frame, anda carrier sense unit that performs carrier sensing before the frame is transmitted, wherein the transmission burst length of the frame is a first value when the carrier sensing with a first threshold is performed before the frame is transmitted and the transmission burst length of the frame is a second value when the carrier sensing with a second threshold is performed before the frame is transmitted.2. The terminal device according to claim 1 ,wherein the transmission bust length is related to a number of OFDM symbols.37-. (canceled)8. A communication method of a terminal device claim 1 , comprising:a step of transmitting a frame,a step of modifying a transmission burst length of the frame, anda step of performing carrier sensing before the frame is transmitted, wherein the transmission burst length of the frame is a first value when the carrier sensing with a first threshold is performed before the frame is transmitted and the transmission burst length of the frame is a second value when the carrier sensing with a second threshold is performed before the frame is transmitted.9. The invention provides a method, an apparatus and a system for controlling network congestion. The method includes: sending a control frame or a beacon frame to a station in a network when network congestion occurs, so as to instruct the station to enlarge a contention window when the station needs to send data. The method can achieve the congestion control for a network before collision occurs to a station, avoiding more serious network congestion caused by each station still contending for a channel after the network congestion occurs; since an access point can send a control frame or a beacon frame to the station when determining that congestion occurs to the current network, to instruct the station which needs to send data to re-determine a backoff time, a rapidly congestion relief of the whole network is achieved, and also a fair channel contention of each station is guaranteed. 1. A method for controlling network congestion , comprising:sending a control frame or a beacon frame to a station in a network when network congestion occurs, so as to instruct the station to enlarge a contention window when the station needs to send data, the control frame or the beacon frame comprises an instruction field which is used to instruct the station to enlarge the contention window when the station needs to send data.2. The method according to claim 1 , wherein claim 1 , if the sending a control frame or a beacon frame to a station in a network is to broadcast the control frame or the beacon frame to all stations in the network claim 1 , then the control frame or the beacon frame further comprises a window field with a value of h;{'sub': cw', 'min', 'min, 'the instructing the station to enlarge a contention window when the station needs to send data comprises: instructing all the stations in the network to enlarge contention windows of all the stations to a product of hand CWwhen the stations need to send data, the CWis a minimum value of the contention window.'}3. The ...
