It is an object of the present invention to provide a rim for a pneumatic tire that can suppress local deformation of the sidewall portion of a mounted tire and thus suppress the occurrence of damage to the sidewall portion. A recessed portion is formed in each tire side portion of an agricultural machinery pneumatic tire. Rigidity at the part of each tire side portion where the recessed portion is formed is reduced. Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media for gravity-driven pumps and generators, as well as various supporting concepts, mechanisms, and approaches. As a tire rotates around an axle, the pull of gravity varies for a given point on the tire. While gravity is always pulling ‘down’, the force relative to a fixed point on the tire changes. Gravity-driven generators exploit these changes in gravitational force to do work. A gravity-driven generator is different from an automatic pump that operates using centrifugal force due to rotation of a tire. Automatic, gravity-driven generators can be used to generate and store energy to perform such tasks as inflating tires to offset the natural gas leakage of modern tires, and can maintain tire pressure and inflation within a desired or optimal range. Tire rims can be modified to accommodate these pumps. 1. A bicycle wheel rim design with high safety margin and optimized strength-to-weight is described. The rim provides a tire bead supporting platform which defines a circumferential bead seat with minimum bead seat diameter equal to the standard tire bead diameter defined for a particular size of tire. Each tire bead seat defined along the rim circumference is comprised by a pair of circumferential ridges. The circumferential ridges comprise the external sidewalls of the rim and do not include tire bead hook features, and are of optimized sidewall thickness to add load strength and lateral stiffness, and resist crushing from impact. A motorcycle tire comprises bead portions each having an axially outer surface provided with a profile which comprises a radially inner portion and a radially outer portion. The radially inner portion is located axially outward of a bead core and extending substantially linearly in the tire radial direction. The radially outer portion is smoothly continued from the radially inner portion and extends radially outwardly to a sidewall portion, while inclining toward the axially outside. When an axial width between the bead portions is adjusted to coincide with a rim width between rim flanges, and an axial center of the axial width coincides with an axial center of the rim width, and further the tire rotational axis coincides with the rotational axis of the wheel rim, then at least a part of the radially outer portion of the profile protrudes axially outwardly from a profile of the inner surface of the rim flange.

A bicycle wheel is disclosed having a spoke, a nipple coupled to the spoke, and a rim coupled to the nipple and having an annular panel with inner and outer surfaces and an access hole. A plug is positioned over the access hole and includes a cap that is larger than the access hole, a leg extending from the cap and through the access hole, and a barb protruding radially from the leg to at least partially engage the inner surface of the annular panel. The plug can further include a resilient member compressed between the cap and the outer surface of the annular panel. On some rims, the annular panel has a non-planar contour. For these rims, the resilient member and/or the cap can be shaped to match the non-planar contour of the annular panel.
