A coating for an implantable device such as a stent is provided including micronized peptides. A method of making the same is also provided. 18-. (canceled)9. A method of coating a stent comprising:applying a composition to a stent, the composition including a micronized peptide or protein having from 5 to 1000 L-arginine subunits, or analogs or derivatives thereof, and a fluid; andessentially removing the fluid from the composition on the stent to form a coating.10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the peptide has an average particle size of less than 2 microns.11. The method of claim 9 , wherein the composition additionally comprises a polymer claim 9 , and wherein the polymer dissolves in the fluid.12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the solubility profile of the peptide or protein is incompatible with the solubility profile of the polymer.13. The method of claim 11 , wherein the polymer is a hydrophobic polymer.14. The method of claim 9 , wherein the fluid is substantially an organic solvent.15.
