A slot case is inserted into a slot or slid on a tab of a first part prior to attaching it to a second part. The first part may have pores that are partially open at the surface of the slot or tab. A food processing apparatus has a frame assembly in which frame members are joined using adhesive, such as an epoxy. The frame members are comprised of stainless steel and the adhesive is applied so that exterior surfaces of the stainless steel frame members are free of any adhesive residue. Adhesive may be used to join exterior frame members as well as interior frame members, such as those used to support mechanical components of the processing apparatus. 1. Described is a laminate, including a stack of mutually bonded adhesive layers and metal sheets. The laminate includes abutting and/or overlapping metal sheet edges that extend along a length direction within a splicing region. A splice strap is bonded to the laminate at an outer surface of the laminate across said splicing region and has a smaller thickness than a thickness of a metal sheet, positioned adjacent to the splice strap in the stack. A method to manufacture the laminate is also disclosed, which involves deforming metal layers in the laminate before consolidating the laminate. The laminate has an improved strength and fatigue behavior over known laminates.
