SIDING PANEL TAB AND SLOT JOINT

Номер: CA0002483974C
Принадлежит: CERTAINTEED CORPORATION

A panel for polypropylene injection molded siding, and for similar materials and/or uses, is mounted in lapped courses with panels attached at butt joints in a direction of elongation. Complementary tabs and slots at the panel ends can be engaged by end-to-end approach of the abutting panels. Additionally, openings for the tabs permit engagement from a position in which the panel ends are already overlapped, which reduces or eliminates the need for endwise assembly space. The slots can be discontinuous on one or both sides, openings permitting lateral insertion of the tabs at gaps, whereupon movement of the tabs along the slots engages the joint. The panels can simulate wood siding and include a step between simulated courses. A gap is provided in the edge of the panel at the step, thus forming an opening for the tab to enter and move along the slot.

Wall Sheathing System

Номер: US20220098872A1
Автор: Albracht Gregory P.

A sheathed building uses corrugated hat-channel furring channels to attach metal panels to an underlying wall structure in a semi-floating manner. The corrugated furring channels are attached to backsides of the metal panels using high-bond-strength tape, and the corrugated furring channels are “hooked” onto corrugated flanges of rail brackets that have been attached to the wall structure to secure the metal panels to the building. Using tape instead of conventional fasteners (e.g., screws or nails) reduces penetrations through the panels and reduces moisture behind the panels. The corrugations facilitate drainage of moisture from behind the panels and drying air circulation. In other embodiments such as a clapboard arrangement of metal panels, rail brackets are not used, and the corrugated furring channels are used to mount the panels in overlapping fashion with no fasteners penetrating through the panels. 1. A structural assembly , comprising:a vertical wall structure;a rail bracket attached to the vertical wall structure and extending in a horizontal direction with an upwardly extending, corrugated, rail-bracket free flange; anda panel having a horizontally extending furring channel attached to a back surface thereof, the furring channel having a central base portion by means of which the furring channel is attached to the back surface of the panel and a first corrugated furring-channel flange that extends in a downward direction;wherein the panel is mounted to the wall structure, with at least some freedom to move relative to the wall structure, by means of the first corrugated furring-channel flange hooking onto the corrugated rail-bracket free flange, andwherein the corrugated nature of the rail-bracket free flange and the first furring-channel flange provides spaces through which moisture drains from between the panel and the wall structure and through which air circulates.2. LAP AND PANEL SIDING WITH VENTILATION ELEMENTS

Номер: US20200277795A1
Принадлежит:

A plurality of ventilation elements, vents, slots, or gap elements or similar features that are applied to, or machined into, one or more sides or faces of exterior siding products, such as lap siding, panel siding, vertical siding, horizontal siding, flat (or non-overlapping) siding, flap siding, decorative trim, trim system components or other forms of panels or cladding materials. When the exterior siding product is installed, the ventilation elements, vents, slots, or gap elements or similar features provide a built-in air and water gap to facilitate and increase water drainage and air circulation behind the siding or panel, thereby minimizing water storage in the space behind the product and lowering the equilibrium moisture content of the siding itself. The ventilation features are incorporated into the corresponding product in-line or during the manufacturing process, and do not require any further work during assembly or construction on-site (e.g., furring strips or other similar drainage mechanisms are not needed). Some or all of the ventilation features or elements are located to improve the product's ability to equilibrate (moisture-wise) in a product stack before installation as well as after installation. 1.
