The noise dampened rail wheel has an annular damper member (4) consisting of layers of thermoplastics and metal, riveted to a spreader ring (3). The damper members are in the form of curved segments, which fit into an opening round the wheel rim. At each end of each segment is welded a trapezoidal block (10) whose outer surface is sloped. In order to fit the damper segments to the wheel, between each segment is fitted a wedge block (17) on whose head is a plate (18), through whose slots pass bolts (20) which screw into tapped drillings (21) in the trapezoidal blocks (10).

Figs. 1 and 2 show the application to the wheels of a tramcar. Sheets 3 of non-resonant material are attached by their upper edges to fenders I secured tn the sides of the car body. The sheets are clamped between steel straps 7 hinged at their upper ends to the fenders and brackets 4 stayed by struts 5. Turn-buttons 9 carried on the brackets 4 engage registering slots 8 in the sheets 3 and in the straps 7. For access to the wheels, the straps 7 are lifted and the sheets 3 are turned up by bending. Cross guards may be provided in the form of sheets 11 of non-resonant material, each secured to members 10 depending from the ends of the fenders 1, and to n crossbeam 13.

A method of preventing or reducing torsional vibrations in a wheel set of a rail vehicle is also disclosed, the method comprising determining the resonant frequency of torsional vibrations of the wheel/axle system and resiliently mounting a vibration absorbing device in the form of a mass, on the wheel set, the mass and its resilient mounting being selected to oscillate at or near that resonant frequency.

In a second example (Fig. 2) a double disc wheel body is produced in a mould 16, 17 having a resilient core 3 which remains in the moulded article. Injection is effected by applying a vacuum through a pipe 20a so that resin is drawn into mould chamber 1 from a storage container 25. Suction is also applied through a pipe 20 to the interior of the core 3 so that when air is re-admitted to the core the resin and glass fibre are pressed against the mould walls.

The low noise wheel rotates freely on the axle held on the railway vehicle frame. The wheel has a plastics disc on which is bolted the steel wheel flange rim. Hence the plastics rim is in contact with the rail and the composite wheel has low weight and runs with low noise. This wheel has a central bearing sleeve for the axle which is held on the vehicle frame by a wear compensating, eccentric wedge with contact surfaces. Bolts, are used for clamping the axle mounting on the frame by a strap. Wear of the wheel tread is compensated by loosening and rotating and clamping the axle supporting triangular wedge into a new position.

本发明涉及一种轨道交通车辆用分块式剪切型弹性车轮,轮心、圆环状的压环以及轮箍,轮心内侧具有翼板、外侧具有安装槽,压环通过紧固件与轮心固定连接,轮箍上的腹板设置在压环与翼板之间将压环与翼板之间分割成对称设置的左环形空腔和右环形空腔,数个弹性单元沿圆周均布在左环形空腔和右环形空腔内,且各弹性单元在左环形空腔和右环形空腔不能转动;压环外圆及轮心的翼板外圆与轮箍的孔壁之间设有径向变形间隙H1,腹板内圆与轮心外圆之间也设有径向变形间隙H2,各弹性块的中心面与轮箍滚动平面之间的夹角θ在0°~25°。本发明结构合理,模块化程度高,能够适用于不同车轮直径,便于组装、维护,可降低制造和使用成本,具有高减振降噪性能。

ABSTRACT A resonance absorber for rail wheels comprises a spring tensile tongue clamped at one end to a base plate. The tongue is supported over only part of its length by an intermediate layer of damping material, and an additional mass is mounted on the free end of the tongue. The absorber can damp the basic frequency and the first harmonic frequency and can be tuned to dampen the fre-quencies which cause screeching noises when the wheel runs in curved tracks.

1355337 Railway bogies R HOOPER and B HOOPER 2 July 1971 [3 July 1970] 32333/70 Heading B7L A railway bogie, rotatable about a vertical axis, comprises a chassis frame 34 including two rigid side frames 21 and three or more axles, e.g. four 15, 16, 17, 18 rigidly mounted on said side frames by means of bearings located in housings 19, 26, 27 and 20 to prevent vertical movement of any wheel independently of the other wheels on the same side of the bogie, apart from that resulting from normal working clearances of the axle bearings. In the preferred embodiment four axles are provided, the two outer axles 17, 18 being supported by their bearing housings 19, 20 in the side frames in a permanently fixed vertical position and the bearing housings 26, 27 for the two inner axles 24, 25 being provided with screw jacks 28, 29 to enable the vertical position of those axles to be adjusted and secured in a position such that all the wheels will contact with equal loading, the running surface of the rail 47 on which the bogie runs. The side frames 21 are connected to the chassis frame 34 by means of springs 38, 39 to enable the side frames to negotiate undulations in the track. The side frames 21 are connected at their ends by resilient tie rods 32, 33. The load centre 48, i.e. the point where the load of the vehicle, to which the bogie is connected, acts, is centrally disposed as shown or is offset from the centre of the wheelbase by not more than 10% of said wheelbase in the opposite direction to the direction of travel.
