In a blow molding process, a fused thermoplastic polymer parison is interposed between a pair of split molds. The split molds are closed around the parison to seal the ends. A small diameter hollow needle is inserted through one of the split molds and fluid is blown into the parison forming a balloon. After the balloon begins to form, a large diameter hollow needle is inserted while internal pressure is applied to the parison via the small diameter hollow needle, and a large amount of fluid is blown in. This process is highly productive and reduces the conventional blow molding cycle by 60 percent due to the rapid cooling of the hollow article.

The present invention relates tn a method of blow-molding a hollow vessel, wherein when a nozzle (1) for blowing air is thrust into a parison extruded from an extruder to thereby blow the air thereinto, the air is blown at least downward into the parison, an opening (8) is formed in the parison in the vicinity of a blow nozzle thrust-in portion (7) or there-above after the hollow vessel is shaped by the blown air, and the blown air is circulated in the hollow vessel and then discharged therefrom. The invention also relates to a blow air cylinder suitably used for said method and has a particular construction wherein there is provided the blow nozzle (1) having an opening capable of blowing air at least downwardly at a rate of 30 % or above of the whole flow quantity of the blown air. The invention makes it possible to shorten the cooling time of the molded itean after blow-molding and produce molded items excellent in accuracy of dimensions effectively.

One mold half of a blow molding machine carries a slidably mounted hollow blow needle which is driven by air pressure to penetrate the extruded plastic tube after the molds have closed, following which blowing air is supplied through the needle bore to inflate the tube to the shape of the mold cavity. After blowing, the blowing air is exhausted from the blown shape and the blow needle is withdrawn. A quick release coupling for the stem 74 comprises an end cap 92 having slots 112, Fig. 2, leading to enlarged holes, whereby after slackening the nuts 110 which secure the cap to a collar 96 on the piston-rod 32, rotation of the cap allows the heads of the nuts to pass through holes 108. Blowing air is introduced through a port 116 in the cap 92 and passes through the stem 74 to the needle which is removably secured by a nut 90. Lubricated air is applied through ports 38, 40 to displace the piston 48 which is prevented from rotation relative to the cylinder by engagement by axial or radial pins 142. A blow nozzle 1 comprises a tubular body 4 with a needle 5 at its end, the tip 9 of the needle being located on the central axis of the tubular body. The needle 5 is formed with an umbrella-like shape, and has a plurality of nozzles 20 for blowing air into a parison in a blow moulding apparatus. The present invention relates to a method of blow-molding a hollow vessel, wherein when a nozzle (1) for blowing air is thrust into a parison extruded from an extruder to thereby blow the air thereinto, the air is blown at least downward into the parison, an opening (8) is formed in the parison in the vicinity of a blow nozzle thrust-in portion (7) or thereabove after the hollow vessel is shaped by the blown air, and the blown air is circulated in the hollow vessel and then discharged therefrom. The invention also relates to a blow air cylinder suitably used for said method and has a particular construction wherein there is provided the blow nozzle (1) having an opening capable of blowing air at least downwardly at a rate of 30 % or above of the whole flow quantity of the blown air. The invention makes it possible to shorten the cooling time of the molded item after blow-molding and produce molded items excellent in accuracy of dimensions effectively.

Multiaxially oriented containers are formed from an extruded, molecularly orientable thermoplastic parison having a programmed wall thickness. Método de moldeo por soplado de un recipiente a partir de un parisón alargado y hueco de un material termoplástico, en el que el método comprende: - disponer el parisón en un equipo de moldeo cerrado que comprende una cavidad de moldeo y al menos una abertura, en el que la al menos una abertura proporciona una abertura en la cavidad de moldeo desde fuera del equipo de moldeo cerrado, en el que la circunferencia de la al menos una abertura es mayor o igual a una circunferencia del parisón, de modo que una primera sección del parisón esté dispuesta dentro de la cavidad de moldeo, una segunda sección del parisón esté dispuesta dentro de la al menos una abertura y una tercera sección del parisón esté dispuesta fuera del equipo de moldeo cerrado, - cerrar un sistema de obturador alrededor de la tercera sección del parisón, apretando así el parisón y proporcionando un volumen cerrado dentro de las secciones primera y segunda del parisón, - disponer un conducto de soplado en comunicación fluida con el volumen cerrado dentro de la segunda sección del parisón, - soplar gas a presión desde el conducto de soplado hacia las secciones primera y segunda del parisón, formando así las secciones moldeadas por soplado primera y segunda, en el que la primera sección moldeada por soplado es el recipiente, y - separar la segunda sección moldeada por soplado de la primera sección moldeada por soplado, proporcionando así una abertura en el recipiente.
