Автор: Howard Levin, Mark Gelfand
Принадлежит: Individual

A method includes setting a hydration goal and administering a diuretic to the patient to induce increased urine flow and collecting urine expelled by the patient. The amount of urine expelled by the patient is determined based on the collected urine. The patient is infused with fluid from a fluid source. The amount of fluid infused into the patient is determined. Diuresis is induced by automatically and continuously adjusting the amount of fluid infused into the patient from the fluid source to meet the hydration goal based on the set hydration goal, the determined amount of urine expelled by the patient and the fluid infused.

A plasmapheresis system and a method for operating a plasmapheresis system are provided by which the volume/weight of anticoagulated plasma that is collected is optimized. In one example, a nomogram is provided that utilizes the donor's hematocrit to calculate the volume/weight of raw plasma within a plasma product having the maximum volume permitted by the FDA nomogram. In a plasmapheresis procedure having multiple collection phases followed by a reinfusion cycle in which concentrated red blood cells are returned to the donor, the volume of plasma product to be collected is calculated prior to the start of each collection cycle to account for the donor's increasing hematocrit, thus resulting in a greater total volume of plasma product to be collected during the plasmapheresis procedure.

A load suspension and weighing system for a removable reservoir unit of a portable dialysis machine includes a centrally located flexure assembly. The flexure assembly includes magnets and a number of flexure rings which allow for movement of the magnets about a fixed circuit board. Sensors in the circuit board sense changes in the magnetic field as the magnets move in relation to the circuit board. The magnetic field changes produce a voltage output which is used by a processor to generate weight calculations. The top of the flexure assembly is attached to the interior of the dialysis machine. The entirety of the reservoir unit is suspended by a first internal frame that is attached to the bottom of the flexure assembly. Having a single flexure assembly positioned above the reservoir unit provides more accurate weight measurements while also preventing damage to the assembly from water spillage. 1. (canceled)2. Monitoring adherence to a medication regimen using a sensor

Номер: US20160239635A1
Автор: Sina Fateh
Принадлежит: Kali Care Inc

A method and apparatus for monitoring and/or managing adherence to a medication regimen that involves use of a sensor. Dispensing medicine from a container commonly involves motion of the container, which can be a distinctive motion. In some embodiments, a processor monitors motion sensor data from a motion sensor that is physically coupled to the container, such that the motion sensor and the container move in unison. A processor analyzes the sensor data to determine physical movement of the container. When the determined movement matches the distinctive motion of medicine being dispensed, the processor can determine that medicine has been dispensed. A computer system can compare the dispensed medication to a planned medication regimen to determine a state of compliance to the medication regimen. The computer system can take an action based on the compliance state, such as sending a message indicating the compliance state to a medical professional.

A method for continuously washing packed red blood cells includes (1) transferring, at a first flow rate, packed red blood cells from a container to a separation device and (2) transferring, at the same time as the packed red blood cells, wash solution from a container to the separation device. The wash solution may be transferred at a second flow rate that is greater than the first flow rate. The wash solution mixes with the packed red blood cells within the inlet line of the separation device and dilutes/washes the packed red blood cells. The separation device separates the red blood cells from the wash solution and a supernatant. The method may then monitor the volume of washed red blood cells within the separation device and begin to extract the washed red blood cells into a red blood cell product container when a target volume is collected within the separation device. 1.
