Core wire for guide wire and method for manufacturing the same

Номер: US20120094123A1
Принадлежит: CLINO Ltd, Piolax Medical Devices Inc

Provided is a core wire for guide wire in which high rigidity can be attained even with a fine wire diameter so that pushability is improved while the core wire is prevented from fatigue deformation, and a method for manufacturing the core wire. This core wire 15 for guide wire is made of a Ti—Ni based alloy and has a wire diameter not larger than 0.5 mm and a Young's modulus not lower than 50 GPa. According to the manufacturing method, first, wire drawing is performed on a raw material M 0 so that the raw material M 0 is passed through a wire drawing dice 2 to be drawn to a certain length while the wire diameter of the core wire is reduced. Thus, a primary processed material M 1 is formed. After that, the primary processed material M 1 is hammered and drawn by swaging dices 5 and 5 so that a secondary processed material M 2 is formed. In this manner, the core wire 15 having a wire diameter not larger than 0.5 mm and a Young's modulus not lower than 50 GPa is manufactured.

HOUSING FOR STORAGE AND MANIPULATION OF A SURGICAL GUIDE WIRE

Номер: US20210008352A1
Автор: Wehbi Elias

A housing has a spiral passageway which contains a catheter which may be manually extracted from the housing by means of a wheel having a polygonal or otherwise textured circumferential surface and mounted on a shaft which extends through a non-circular bearing defined in an outer portion of the housing. An inner portion of the wheel extends into the spiral passageway adjacent the wire catheter and an outer portion of the wheel outwardly from the housing whereby the upper surface of the knob can be manipulated by a member of the surgical team in one direction and the wire catheter below the knob will be advanced in the opposite direction. The non-circular bearing has a generally circular outer portion in which the textured surface of the knob is only intermittently in contact with the catheter whereby the wire catheter may be advanced, and a generally linear inner portion sloping inwardly towards the catheter. When the knob's shaft is held loosely in the outer portion of the bearing, the wire catheter is free to travel. However when the knob's shaft is moved into the sloping portion of the bearing, the operator can push the knob in one direction to force the knob against the wire catheter and lock the catheter into intimate contact with the lower surface of the passageway, and in the opposite direction to retract the knob slightly away from the catheter thereby permitting limited movement of the catheter relative to the housing. 1. Mechanism for manipulation of a surgical guide wire , comprising:a hand held housing including a spiral passageway for containing the guide wire;a disk shaped knob having a polygonal or otherwise textured circumference about an axis of rotation;an axial shaft extending along the axis of rotation of the knob and confined within a pair of opposed openings in opposite sides of the spiral passageway for securing the knob to the housing with an inner portion of the knob's textured circumference extending into the spiral passageway and into ...

A proximal end of the exchange segment is joined with a distal end of the catheter sheath in a lengthwise direction forming an angle therebetween, such that the second lumen is laterally offset by a distance and angled with respect to the first lumen. When the catheter is placed within a patient's anatomy, the catheter sheath and/or the exchange segment straightens out so that the axis of the second lumen and the axis of the first lumen become substantially parallel to each other. The offset distance between the axes of sheath and exchange segment depends mainly on the diameter of the guidewire to be used, on the diameter of the sheath, and the angle of the junction.

Medical guide element with diameter transition

Номер: US20190022363A1
Принадлежит: Individual

Improved medical guide elements for use with dilators to be inserted into an organ or body structure of a patient, such as the kidney. The guide element includes a proximal segment and a distal segment. The diameter of the distal segment is greater than the diameter of the proximal segment. The change in diameter is abrupt, providing a discrete step transition at a point along the filament which presents a proximally-facing surface on the distal segment. When the proximal segment of the guide element is fully inserted into a dilator having a distal tip adapted for insertion into a patient, the dilator distal tip firmly abuts the proximally-facing end surface of the distal segment. The relative dimensions of the dilator tip and the discrete stepped transition of the guide element provides full shielding or over shielding of the dilator tip, thereby facilitating passage of the dilator tip along the tissue track, through the puncture hole and into the orifice.

A kink-resistance catheter has at least a first pair of core wires residing in the catheter body on opposed side of a catheter lumen. The core wires have relatively stiff proximal ends but taper toward their distal ends. The tapered construction provides the core wires with a degree of distal flexibility that helps the catheter advance along a vasculature to a site of interest without kinking. Moreover, the core wires greatly improve the torsional rigidity of the catheter so that rotation of the catheter's proximal end translates into a substantially equivalent rotation at the distal end. If desired, shaping ribbons are provided in the catheter body adjacent to the distal ends of the core wires. The shaping ribbons can be pre-bent before a surgical procedure to help the physician advance the catheter along the vasculature. Finally, the core wires provide the ability to push the catheter through the vasculature without the need for the catheter to go over a guidewire already in-situ in the vasculature. 1.
