An edging strip for straddling over an edge flange &c. is made by enclosing in a flexible covering of e.g. plasticized vinyl chloride 8, ornamented if desired, a one piece sheet steel core strip 4 having a series of transversely extending core elements 6 connected intermediate their ends by frangible parts 7 and then forming the whole into a channel-shaped form. The parts 7 may be broken before, during or after the channel-shape formation. The parts 7 may be formed by transverse grooves 16 and apertures 17 enable the cover on one side of the metal strip to be bonded to the cover on the other side.
